Veteran Services

Head of the line privileges! The Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development provides “Priority of Service” for veterans and eligible spouses in all qualified job training programs funded in whole or in part by the U.S. Department of Labor. Priority of service means that veterans and eligible spouses are given priority over non-covered persons for the receipt of employment, training, and placement services.

Priority of Service also includes:

  • Jobs posted on ALEXsys are viewable only by veterans for the first 24 hours
  • Several job centers have computers reserved solely for use by veterans
  • Limited training funds go to veterans before consideration of non-veteran trainees
